Tales of the Northern March
Spear of Lugh
Legendary magic weapon (pike)
A powerful pike with a golden spear head that is warm to the touch.
- Property (Attuned): When you strike the butt of the spear against your palm, flames erupt from the spear head. The flames shed bright light in a 20-foot radius, and darkness within 20 feet of the bright light becomes dim light. While this effect is active, your first hit in a round adds 2d6 extra fire damage. Striking the butt of the spear against your palm again extinguishes the flames and it can’t be reactivated until after a short or long rest.
- Property (Attuned): Despite its size, you can use this pike as a thrown weapon with a range of 20/60. When you speak a command word, it will return to your hand.
- Secret: At the end of any round in which the spear has not wounded an enemy, the bearer takes 2d6 fire damage.
The spear is one of four great magical treasures brought by the high elves from Vanaheim. Lugh, king of Alfheim, used it to kill the giant Balor, king of Jotunheim. It was used by a number of other heroes and was found in the horde of the green dragon Eitrdottir.
