Tales of the Northern March
Three River Valley
Population: 50,000 halflings and gnomes
This large fertile valley was home to a hundred villages of halflings and gnomes who lived together and traded with many of the surrounding communities at the town of Goodmarket. A few years ago, an expeditionary force of hobgoblins came through an undiscovered pass from the east and were followed shortly after by a large invading army. The hobgoblin force included ogres, bugbears, ettins, and goblins and they quickly subdued the locals and installed a Duke to rule over the province. Now, every village has a hobgoblin prefect who oversees the collection of taxes for the Duke. Two fortresses have been built to tax those attempting to use the river to pass between the lochs and fend off potential military threats. Goblins have taken to mining the mountains surrounding the valley to provide the iron for the hobgoblin war machine. Demands for tribute have already been sent to Plumbank, Havendell, and Dimhall and it is only a matter of time before they are backed by military force.
